2010 Mission District Awards Dinner
Hello Mission Scouters, Due to poor advance registrations, schedule conflicts, phases of the moon, etc - the Mission District Recognition Dinner has been postponed. The new date is tentatively set for September 9th which is the same night as the District Roundtables and the Commissioner's meeting. Any paid reservations that we have received will be refunded or carried forward to the new date. All applications for Spark Plug Awards and District Award of Merit nominations will be considered at that time. Additional nominations will be accepted also. For more information contact Bruce Drake.
Centennial Quality Award Replaces Quality Unit Award
The 100th Anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America is only one year away. To salute our first century of fun and adventure, citizenship, patriotism, and good character, the Centennial Quality Award program has been established to recognize units and individuals who deliver exceptional programs to Scouts at all levels of the BSA. Our goal is to improve the quality of programs in every Scout unit in the Mission District! Every unit will establish annual goals to provide their youth the highest quality program experience. Set your goals and work toward achieving the new award. Your Scouts are counting on you! Good luck as you work towards achieving this award. Mission District Roundtables
Mission District Roundtables provide valuable information and training for Scoutmasters, Cubmasters, Assistants, and Committee Chairs. Mission District Roundtables are held from 7-8:30 pm on the 2nd Thursday of each month at the LDS Stake Center, 4195 Camino Del Rio South. It is an excellent opportunity to network with other Scout leaders in our District. Refreshments are provided.

Mark your calendar now! Bring your questions, and share your experiences with other Scout leaders. Get to know what other Troops and Packs are doing, what works and what doesn't. Spend time with our District Executive and special guests. Head home armed with handouts and souvenirs. For more info, contact Andrew McHorney, our Roundtable Commissioner by email.
Friends of Scouting Campaign
Each year the Friends of Scouting campaign raises money for Scouting activities and improvements to our facilities. The money raised last year enabled us to make major repairs and upgrades at Mataguay Scout Reservation. The funds also pay our SDIC staff. Have you made your pledge yet? For more information, please contact our Friends of Scouting representatives: Dan Krotzer, Andy Eros, and Josh McClure.
Unit Commissioners Needed!
You have been Cubmaster or Scoutmaster or Committee Chair, but now your son has bridged out or aged out of the unit. What do you do now? You love being part of the unit, but you know it's important to step aside and let the parents of active Scouts fill those leadership roles. Yet you possess the knowledge base that your unit needs to succeed. Your next job should be Unit Commissioner. The Unit Commissioner serves as friend, representative, doctor, teacher, and counselor. He assists the unit and the chartered organization with the things he's learned from experience: rechartering. running ceremonies, outing planning, training boys and leaders, organizing, recruiting, and more. Take the next step. Become a Unit Commissioner and mentor your old unit. Help keep it strong, healthy, happy, rechartered on time, and successful as a Centennial Quality Unit. If this sounds interesting, contact District Commissioner Greg Middleton.
